Laurie Etchen: It’s Never Too Late To Live Your Dream!

As the youngest of 3 siblings, Laurie grew up on a farm in the small town of Clear Lake, Iowa. A town mostly known for where the 50’s singers Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper played their final concert before dying in a plane crash on their way to their next gig.

Laurie grew up playing sports, was active in choir and theater, and participating in 4-H, whose mission is to develop citizenship, leadership, responsibility and life skills of youth through experiential learning programs and a positive youth development approach. After high school, Laurie went to college on an art scholarship. After a few weeks in college, she decided to just focus on her love of music instead. She also became a photographer for her college.

After college, Laurie got a part-time job in the sales department of a fairly large photography company. She eventually had the highest sales average in the district. Laurie had dreamt of becoming famous for her music, but instead, she went on to have a career in production services and being a creative director for an agency.

Laurie opens up about the challenges she faced, including the loss of her mother and sister, as well as a health scare involving cancer. Despite these hardships, she found strength and purpose through her music and her determination to live life to the fullest.

Today, Laurie is retired from the corporate world but spends time playing gigs in the Midwest with her band, Atomic Beat. Tune in to hear her journey that is proof that you’re never too old to live your dream!

About the Podcast

A Warrior's Spirit
Where Inner Warriors Shine In Their Light
Warriors aren't born, they're forged in the fires of challenge.

Every setback, every struggle, is a hammer striking the anvil of our character. Warriors don’t just conquer the world around them; they face the shadows within. They wrestle with doubt, fear, & insecurity, emerging not just stronger, but more compassionate.

Imagine a warrior who fights not just for personal glory, but for a cause greater than themselves. They lead by example, showing us that strength is not just about power, but about lifting others up.

It’s about turning pain into purpose and struggles into stories of resilience. Each challenge we face is an opportunity to grow, to transform our lives and the lives of those around us. When we embrace our struggles, we become part of a community of warriors, united in our quest for strength and compassion.

It’s not the fight that defines us, but how we rise from it.
Let’s share our stories, inspire one another, and keep the spirit of the warrior alive.
